Matt’s Week 5 NFL Picks
Matt has been hot to start the NFL season at 7-2 for +11.2 units. Let’s keep the hot streak going.
Cincinnati +2 @ Jacksonville / 1 unit
Jacksonville is in shambles right now, and with their coach on the hot seat, it looks like they’re ready for a change. Rookie Blaine Gabbert will struggle against this stout Bengals D. This would be a higher unit play, but a rookie QB going on the road against a tough D is always tough. On a neutral field, Cincy wins by more than 1. Bengals win this 17-13.
Cincinnati/Jacksonville U37 / 2 units
Both D’s are good, both O’s are not. Jacksonville hasn’t covered the total yet this year. Both teams will try to unsuccessfully establish the run, making this a game of field position. Bengals 17-13.
Tennessee +3 @ Pittsburgh / 2 units
The Titans will have CJ2K rolling against this depleted Pitt run D. This will open up Hasselbeck and the underrated Titans offense. The Steelers O Line is down right awful, and I don’t see how they can move the ball. Generally you could say that Big Ben can buy time in the pocket to throw one deep to Wallace, but with a busted up foot, I don’t see that happening. Titans win this 17-10.
Green Bay -5.5 @ Atlanta / 4 units
Green Bay can not be stopped. With everyone on the offensive skill positions healthy this year, it allows Rodgers to spread the ball around to everyone on the field. Now the Packers are going into Atlanta a week after the Falcons made Tavaris Jackson look like a starting NFL QB. I think the Packers will get up early, which will force Matt Ryan to throw a few deep to Julio Jones which will cause some turnovers, and make this game snowball. The only thing holding this back from a 5 star is that Atlanta is historically good at home. Not this time.
